This is really the most important part and the main purpose of the whole competition! Make sure you have entry forms available at all times in all the places a customer might be asked to enter. Also remember that if you do run out of forms, you could always use the back of a till slip, just make sure all the relevant information is written clearly.
Be assertive. Encourage customers at the dispensary, clinic, makeup counter, POS or any other touch point to enter the competition. If it doesn’t take too long to fill out and there is a chance of winning something, most people will happily enter their details.
Make sure that the customer fills in the form as completely as possible (Not everyone has an email address, but 99% of people should have a mobile phone number.) Check the form quickly while the customer is still standing with you, and make sure the writing is clear enough to be read by someone else later on. Check with the customer that the details are correct – how will you contact the winners if their details are wrong?
Once that is done, you need someone who can spell and type properly to capture the entry form details onto your database. Remember that one letter or number wrong means you won’t be able to connect with that customer again and as the saying goes, “It costs much more to find a new customer than to keep an old one.” Treat the information given to you with care and respect.
